Etiological Trends and Epidemiological Profile of Tropical Fever in Children Presenting with Acute Undifferentiated Fever at a Tertiary Care Centre in North India

 Introduction: The objective of this study was to determine the etiology acute undifferentiated fevers (AUF) in hospitalised children with a tertiary care centre North India. various causes included dengue, malaria, scrub typhus, enteric fever, leptospirosis and Chikungunya. clinical spectrum therapeutic outcome these cases also studied.
 Methods: This retrospective conducted over period 6 months from June 2019 December 2019. information 126 who tested positive for any AUF namely chikungunya obtained Paediatrics Department. recorded predesigned proforma. Various tests performed diagnosis illnesses were noted. They dengue NS1 antigen ELISA IgM ELISA, peripheral blood smear (PBS) malarial parasite rapid detection test (RMAT), typhus leptospira Chikungunya ELISA.
 Results: (55.5%; 70/126), malaria (19%; 24/126) 24/126), fever (4.7%;6/126) (1.5%; 2/126). most common presenting symptom or pyrexia followed by myalgia, generalised aches pains body vomiting. Commonly observed complications thrombocytopenia, hepatitis shock.
 Conclusions: Dengue, are major being prevalent infection. further emphasises need develop systematic approach AUFs. should be using combination clinical, epidemiological laboratory parameters, which will very useful developing relevant action plan treatment prevention such hospital setup.
